Srau Beach Surfing, Snorkling, Hiking and Fishing in Virgin Beach

Hidden behind a row of hills 25 km west of Pacitan (East Java, Indonesia), Srau Beach is a surfer’s heaven. You will not find any crowd in this beautiful beach because the location is quite far from the downtown. The closest village is some kilometers away. Do not expect any hotel or restaurant. There are only some small food stalls providing snack, instant noodle, tea, and coffee.

This beach hides 3 surf spots with challenging waves for at least intermediate surfers. The first spot is located at the back of the ticket portal and often calledThe Portal. The second one is Pancingan, located under the reef cliff on the west hill that is often used as a fishing place by local fisherman and also many people from out of town who often come to spend their day fishing. Meanwhile, the third spot is Pandan, located just behind Pancingan Hill.

Srau's type of wave is reef break; means that the waves are created by the sea waves hitting the reefs. The bottom of the beach is also dominated by reefs. That is why surfers should be more careful. November until February is the best time to surf and chase barrels at Srau Beach.

Not only supplying barrels for surfers, Srau is also offering the beauty of white sandy beach and crystal clear water. It is also the perfect location for snorkeling and enjoying the beauty of marine biota. Getting bored of taking a walk on the beach? Try to go up to the hill on the right. Hiking on this reef hill and enjoying the amazing ocean view will immediately refresh your mind. You can also join the fisherman and other people who are fishing from the reef cliff of this hill.

Klayar Beach Empty beach with Sphinx-like Reef and sea fluite

Klayar is a very beautiful and exotic beach even though many people have never heard about it before. Klayar Beach is resides in Donorojo district, Pacitan Regency. It is about 35 km towards west Pacitan city. It can reach about 60 minutes from the city. Many rockies like spink in Mesir. Klayar Beach with its dune has a distinctive feature from another. Its waves dashed against the rock spourting from the hole make sound like a bamboo flute. The springkling of waves rush to beach and out through the hole spurting about 7 meters high and has a sound like blowing bamboo flute.

This white sandy beach has an idiosyncrasy that is the flute sea. It is once in a while whistle among reef gap and blast waved. It has white sand and the water is blue which enjoyable to be visited. Despitefully there is also a real natural water fountain. This water fountain happened because the wave pressure the air sea which hit bank hollow rock. Water fountain, which can reach of 10 metre height yield drizzle and seawater dew that believed has special quality as ageless drug.

The beach is almost empty. Except on the school break season or holidays you will only see a few fisherman. The white sand stretched with crystal-clear waves breaking on shore, flanked by reef cliffs on the right and left. You can go up to the hill on the right and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Klayar's landscape from the seeing point there.

After admiring the beautiful landscape, taking a walk on the soft white sand would be the best thing to do. Walking to the east, you will see a small river flows cut across the sand to meet the sea. Crossing this river will be very exciting because in some points, the depth reaches adult thigh. Not so far from this estuary, a very beautiful smaller river emerges and creates another estuary. The bottom of this river is composed by beautiful black sand with stripes of white sand washed from the beach.

High reefs are standing firmly at the east of the lagoon. One of them looks almost like the famous Sphinx from Egypt. Exploring the reef area in the rear, you will see a few small holes on the reef filled with water. It seems like these are home for some small crabs. Far to the right, there are some holey reefs in the bottom part of the cliff that looks like tunnel underneath the reef.
